You probably know what it is, but if you don't, it's a tool developed by Alexander Osterwalder, Yves Pigneur, and the team at Strategyzer (https://strategyzer.com/) for taking a business idea (more accurately, business model) and describing how it functions very quickly and easily. Problem is, I've noticed that a lot of first-time entrepreneurs and individuals without business backgrounds struggle with it. There's a lot of new ideas and new terminology to ingest, and it can be pretty overwhelming, possibly to the point where they just get turned away from what's really a very effective tool for building new startups. So, here's the challenge: how do you take the business model canvas and make it easier and more intuitive to use for this group of people? As an extra challenge, how can we make it more fun? Well, obviously we should make a game out of it. So, that's what business toybox is all about. It's a fun idea that just happens to be also be a business, and it revolves around building new business models with concepts like representing business hypotheses with game tokens , drawing arrows to connect related tokens, and rewarding failure so that entrepreneurs aren't afraid to flunk their own guesses. Play a game. Start a business.
