Ohio Corn & Wheat consisting of Ohio Corn Marketing Program, Ohio Small Grains Marketing Program and Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association investing in the future of our industry by understanding the importance of the next generation. The Collegiate Policy Academy (CPA) is connecting college students with public policy leaders in Columbus and Washington D.C. along with networking and professional development opportunities.
As a CPA participant, students will be exposed to issues facing agriculture today. Throughout this Academy students will attend functions representing Ohio Corn & Wheat, meet influencers from across the state and nation and make contacts with professionals in the industry. In addition to these activities, students accepted into the Academy will attend the Washington D.C. Fly-In. This is an all-expense paid mission to Washington D.C. This mission gives students the opportunity to attend meetings focusing on: international trade, market development, ethanol, and so much more.
Member of Ohio Corn & Wheat Association. Can apply for membership at time of application submission.
Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student Sophomore, Junior or Senior at an Ohio college or university by the fall of 2019.
Applicants showing interest in Agriculture. Agricultural major preferred, not required.
Applicants must have proof of legal residency in the state of Ohio.
Applicants must be willing to attend OCWGA Spring Fly-In March 10-12, 2020, all expenses covered by Ohio Corn & Wheat.
To develop future agricultural leaders, specifically interested in corn and wheat.
To offer collegiate agriculture leaders the opportunity to experience the national legislative efforts of growers.
To introduce collegiate agriculture leaders to Ohio legislators in DC. Mission is scheduled for March 10-12, 2020 in Washington, DC.
To allow collegiate agriculture leaders the opportunity to network with growers, state staff from U.S. corn states, and national corn and wheat staff member.
A Committee of Ohio Corn & Wheat board members and Ohio Corn & Wheat staff members will review applications. The Committee will request an interview of the final candidates, via webinar (GoToMeeting) on Monday, December 16, 2019. Academy recipients will be notified by Tuesday, December 17, 2019. If accepted, please plan on attending a CPA Orientation on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Ohio Corn & Wheat office in Delaware, Ohio.
All applications must be typed and must be received no later than Thursday, December 5, 2019.
Collegiate leaders selected for this program will be asked to commit to a one-year of participation. Active participation and attendance will be required at various events including, but not limited to, the Washington, DC mission, the state FFA convention, professional development and networking events/webinars, and participation in a full-day training prior to the experience (December 20, 2019).
