Ohio Corn & Wheat Collegiate Policy Academy

Ohio Corn & Wheat consisting of Ohio Corn Marketing Program, Ohio Small Grains Marketing Program and Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association investing in the future of our industry by understanding the importance of the next generation. The scholarship program encourages undergraduate students at Ohio colleges and universities to pursue degrees in one of the many academic fields that support the future of the soybean industry including agriculture, business, communication, economics, education, science and technology.


  1. Member of Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association. Can apply for membership at time of application submission.
  2. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student Sophomore, Junior or Senior at an Ohio college or university by the fall of 2019.
  3. Applicants showing strong interest in Agricultural major preferred, not require.
  4. Applicants must have proof of legal residency in the state of Ohio.
  5. Applicants must be willing to attend Corn Congress July 15-18, 2019, all expenses covered by Ohio Corn & Wheat.


  1. To develop future agricultural leaders, specifically interested in corn and wheat.
  2. To offer collegiate agriculture leaders the opportunity to experience the national legislative efforts of growers.
  3. To introduce collegiate agriculture leaders to Ohio legislators in DC. Mission is scheduled for July 15-18, 2019 in Washington, DC.
  4. To allow collegiate agriculture leaders the opportunity to network with growers, state staff from U.S. corn states, and national corn and wheat staff member.

Selection Process

A Committee of Ohio Corn & Wheat board members and Ohio Corn & Wheat staff members will review applications. The Committee will request a personal interview of the final candidates, at the Ohio Corn and Wheat offices in Delaware (week of April 15 or 22, 2019). Additional arrangements can be made for the interview process if there is a scheduling conflict with the final candidates (i.e. Skype). Academy recipients will be notified by April 26, 2019.


All applications must be typed and must be received no later than Friday, April 5, 2019.

Please include one letter of recommendation, regarding the applicant’s academic abilities, the applicant’s professional qualifications, and the applicant’s personal qualities. Letters may not be written by the applicant, anyone under 21 years of age, or anyone related to the applicant or serving as a legal guardian. Please include contact information for each reference.


Collegiate leaders selected for this program will be asked to commit to a one-year of participation. Active participation and attendance will be required at various events including, but not limited to, the Washington, DC mission, the state FFA convention, the Ohio State Fair, Farm Science Review, professional development and networking events, and participation in a full-day training prior to the experience. Training dates will be determined after the selection of participants.
