Description

The Farm Bureau Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge is the first national business competition focused exclusively on rural entrepreneurs with food and agriculture businesses. The Challenge provides rural entrepreneurs with $145,000 in startup funds to help them innovate and grow their businesses.

10 Awards

  • Four (4) finalist teams win:

    • $15,000 each

    • Compete for additional $25,000

    • Two complimentary tickets to Agriculture Investment Summit

    • Opportunity to pitch to multimillion dollar investors at the Agriculture Investment Summit

    • Booth space at the IDEAg Trade Show

    • Complimentary trip for lead entrepreneur to attend Challenge Top 10 Event in Washington, DC

    • Complimentary trip for lead entrepreneur to attend 2018 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in Nashville 

  • Six (6) teams win:

    • $10,000 for each Best in Show category

    • Best in Show categories include:

      • ​Best Farm Startup

      • Best Agritourism Startup

      • Best Farm-to-Table Startup

      • Best Ag Technology & Support Services Startup

      • Best Craft Beverage Startup

      • Best Local Product Startup

    • ​One complimentary ticket to Agriculture Investment Summit

    • Booth space at the IDEAg Trade Show

    • Complimentary trip for lead entrepreneur to attend Challenge Top 10 Event in Washington, DC

Rules

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Idea for a food or agriculture business

  2. For-profit company

  3. Current Farm Bureau member

  4. At least 18 years of age at the time of the submission


Who is not eligible?

Farm Bureau staff at the county, state or national level or one of Farm Bureau's affiliate companies such as AAIC or Farm Bureau Bank are not eligible to participate in the Challenge. Spouses and family members living in the same household of Farm Bureau staff or staff of Farm Bureau affiliated companies are also not eligible to participate in the Challenge. Challenge finalists and semi-finalists who have received Challenge prize money in previous years are not eligible
