THE CLIMB | Jake Jabs Business Plan Competition is a business development event for collegiate and community startups. Established by the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at University of Colorado Denver, THE CLIMB is a multi-stage competition that helps entrepreneurs transform concepts into viable businesses through mentorship, education, financial support and real-world business exchanges. With more than 500 mentor hours shared and $1 million awarded to date, this competition is one of the largest in the Rocky Mountain region.

Rules

The Fall 2017 Business Plan Competition is open to collegiate teams at the University of Colorado Denver and community teams in Colorado. Teams must qualify based on the below:

  • Startup must be under two years old.
  • Startups cannot have any other venture captial (VC) or angel funds accepted before application deadline.
  • Teams selected for Pitch Night are required to have at least one team member physically present at Pitch Night on November 7th.

Submission/Entry Requirements:

  • Complete online application on Reviewr
  • Include a 60-90 second pitch video
  • Include a 3-page executive summary

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Q: Does my video have to be of professional production quality?
    • A: NO. Videos can be animated, recorded from computer cameras, records from smartphones, etc. Do not worry about the production quality of your video as much as your pitch clarity and creativity.
  • Q: Can I change my entry after submitting my application?
    • A: YES. Applications may be edited and changed as many times as needed up to the application closing deadline.
  • Q: How many team members have to qualify?
    • A: ONLY ONE team member must qualify under the collegiate terms. The business must qualify under all other terms.
  • Q: Is there an entry fee?
    • A: NO
